Thoughts on Pictoria Vark’s “Nothing Sticks” Release show
note, this is from my own instagram post, and i did not bring my camera with me, so this shot is all i got!
Only a week after its release, I keep finding myself going back to Pictoria Vark’s “Nothing Sticks”. Her music is about the transient nature of our lives – and the sound reflects that, never staying in one place too long. “San Diego” a gorgeous track fleshed out with strings and harmonies, later in the album “Lucky Superstar” hazes things up with some heavy percussion, and my favorite track on the record “Make Me A Sword” lives somewhere in between the two. It’s such a dynamic record and again, I’m telling all of you not to sleep on it!
Tonight was the release show for “Nothing Sticks”, and I feel lucky to have been able to make it up to NY for it. Add in the amazing set of another fav, Gemma Laurence (whose record ‘Lavender’ made my former blog’s 2022 year end list!) , and new favorite Carol, a great great night of music at what is still one of my favorite venues in the world.
Laurence and Vark also covered The Chicks. Hell yeah.
