My Morning Jacket turn the clock back in Philadelphia – concert thoughts

Just like last year’s run at the Met, it was like they turned the clock back 16+ years last night in Philadelphia. And a reminder that even with a limited amount of time, these dudes still have a claim to the “best rock band in the world” title.

A “Z” heavy show, with nothing past Circuital other than the Jim solo track “State of The Art” which rules anyway so that was great.

We got “Hopefully” was a nice treat, and the complete surprise they actually played “Picture of You”, what the hell. Add in one of the greatest songs ever written, “Steam Engine”, yeah – it’s like Jim knew I was gonna be there somehow. What a show. I was on the fence up until the day before and my god am I glad I made it.
