Teppen’s March 2026 playlist
March 2026 was a month full of such great new music that we decided we’re going to do a playlist each month to stay on top of new releases. There’s a mix of new singles, tracks from albums released during the month, including some heavy hitting live records. We’ll include links for each track, as well as a playlist on YouTube. There’s really no order here, and albums are mixed with singles, so we’re just doing it Teppen-style.
Homecomings – the aquarium of illumination and night glare, A live record from one of Japan’s best pop bands, featuring songs from throughout their discography. Recorded on the night of their final performance with founding bassist Honami Fukuda.
Pupule Poloka – “yutsuzu”, Rich’s favorite discovery in 2025 returns with another great gazey slowburn.
omeme tenten – “KIRAMEKIDATTA”, absolute ripper
Gladie – No Need To Be Lonely, A powerful reminder of the strength of community from one of the best bands in the country’s best music scene.
gobbinjr – “happened yet”, gobbinjr doing what they do best, some simple lo-fi keys, programmed drums, but also some strings?, featuring a dynamic vocal performance by vocalist Emma Whitmer, ranging from a rap to reverb-drenched dreaminess.
Tiny Yawn – “Nine Lives”, new single from the genre-defiant Tiny Yawn, mathy, dreamy, gorgeous. From Into The Blue EP coming in May.
Walm – “Bags”, a very diverse sounding 4 and a half minutes. Programmed synth, whispery vocals, cutting guitar chords, and a closing guitar solo that goes from pure bliss to total rippage.
zoo zoo sea – “Clear Memory”, great pop rock with an incredible voice in the middle of it all.
PEDRO – “弱虫のうた“ / “Coward’s Song”, Upbeat track from former BiSH member AYUNi D. The music video features some clips of her facing some fears, including bungee jumping, dying her hair blonde, being covered in snakes, and most importantly, a pro wrestling match at the Ice Ribbon dojo, featuring Yappy, Tsukina Umino, and Kirari Wakana, so obviously it makes our list.
Haku. – Sekai EP, Four stellar tracks from meteoric rising stars Haku. Way more than just a meme band, this EP will make you feel.
Waltzmore – “Hollow”, Uplifting, dreamy guitar rocker with equally dreamy vocals.
Grace Ives – Girlfriend, The latest record from one of the decade’s great songwriters. Folky, electronic, beautiful, angry, heavenly.
Hurray for the Riff Raff – Live Forever, a definitive live document of one of this generation’s most important songwriters.
Johnny Blue Skies & the Dark Clouds, Mutiny After Midnight, Make America Fuk Again
Kim Gordon, Play Me, Completely unpredictable and utterly enjoyable
Tinariwen – Hoggar, Powerful, urgent music that proves art transcends all boundaries.
Henry Jamison – Big Flower Light Go Boom, gorgeous, collaborative record featuring Nico Muhly, Lady Lamb, Jacob Collier and more.
Cut Worms – Transmitter, If you’re not charmed by the musical universe of Cut Worms, are you in the right place, looking at this list?
Kevin Morby – “Die Young”, Powerful single from Morby’s upcoming record Little Wide Open, out in May.
Snail Mail – Ricochet, a comeback in many ways for Lindsey Jordan. Featuring tons of influence from 90’s-2000’s rock.
Scout Gillett – Tough Touch, Ranges from dreamy soundscapes to big rockers, all led by Gillett’s inviting voice.
Surfbort – Reality Star, I will never forget the first time I saw Surfbort. Legendary shit, eat a hot dog.
Hitsujibungaku – “Dogs”, A more aggressive sound from Moeka Shiotsuka, Yurika Kasai and crew that echoes “Addiction” more than “Koe”. For a Netflix adaptation of Sins of Kujo.
PUP – Megacity Madness (The Official Live Recordings), Vinyl exclusive record from Toronto punkers, that somehow bottles the incredible live energy of their shows. This is Vinyl-Only so no video. Buy the record at this link.
bed – “Kaze”, wake up.
Manual – “True Bypass”, Immense, immersive title track from the first full-length Manual record in 16 years.
WOZNIAK – “Pulse of Ray”, Atmospheric, ambient track made even more dreamy with a vocal appearance from Yua Uchiyama of RAY.
Anna Altman – Annatomic, fuzzy, addicting record, from Lucia Arias and Christian Billard. Also hits my weakness for albums with a “Theme From…” track.
Courtney Barnett – Creature of Habit, Another great record from Barnett complete with her trademark wit, wisdom, and undeniable riffs.
sadplanet – “Do You?”, dreamy as hell. A band to keep an eye on.
Erina Uozumi – Eien Nante, Erina has been on a whirlwind of dates with glossy posters promoting her 2nd album. She’s worthy of the attention garnered, presenting mostly acoustic guitar and voice with a bit of ambient effects mixed low. Occasionally a song will burst out full throttle, and the stereo ping-ponging echo shimmers.
Acidclank + Momose Yasunaga + Koji Nakamura – at 春の雨 cafe & records (HARDCORE AMBIENCE #18- 3【LIVE】)
The newest YouTube upload from HARDCORE AMBIENCE is a trio performance where Acidclank, Momose, and Koji converge in an underwater meditation with percussion bursts. All three are quite active in the underground music scene and adept at improv.
